[bioontology-support] question re: ontology service

Benjamin Webel
Hello,

For over 24 hours, The BioPortal Ontology Service (ICD10CM) in REDCap has been yielding [No results were returned] when we type a code. An IT specialist at our institution let us know the service goes down periodically for a few hours at a time, I'm just checking in due to the extended duration.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach me by phone at (804) 828-9625. Thanks so much for your help!

Thanks,
Ben Webel

[bioontology-support] site was down for a period

John Graybeal-2
Hi everyone,

Thank you all for your reports, which somehow all hit the support list within 5 minutes of each other.

We had a non-trivial outage of the system around 1800-1840 GMT. We believe we have the system back up and fully functional; please let us know if that is not the case.

@Ben, thanks for noticing and reporting on the extended issue with ICD10CM. We weren't aware of that specific issue, but with the resets we had to do for the rest of the system the API for ICD10CM seems to be responding now.

Please let us know if you see further issues at this point.

John

Hello Emily,

MEDDRA is visible on our end with no errors. Could you please try refreshing your browser cache and trying to access again? If that doesn’t work, could you please give us more detail about what you’re trying to do? Are you using the web application or the REST API?

Kind regards,
Jennifer

Re: [bioontology-support] site was down for a period

O'Bryant, Emily

Hi Jennifer, Thanks for reaching back out to me. I cleared my cache and am still getting the same error. According to what it says in REDCap, we are utilizing the BioPortal API web service.

This service utilizes the BioPortal API web service (see documentation at http://bioportal.bioontology.org). For this feature to work, the REDCap web server must be able to make outbound HTTP requests to https://data.bioontology.org/. If you do not yet have a BioPortal API token, you can obtain a token here. The service will not function without a valid API token.

It is enabled and we have the token

But as you can see when I type in an AE term there are still No results.

Thanks,

Emily

OK, thanks for the clarification Emily. We’ve located an issue with the search index on our end, and are working to get it fixed. We’ll update the list when it’s back up. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Kind regards,
Jennifer
